Holiness

“Worship the Lord
In the Beauty of Holiness;
Fear Before Him All the Earth,”
That Not-Always-So-Good Book Says.

What If the Lord Has No Interest
In Being Worshipped or Feared,
and “Holiness” Is Actually
Another Way of Saying
“All That Is?”

We Must Remember When
Jesus Said,
“You Must Become As Children:”
Playing, Laughing,
Happy To Be Dependent On
Our Maker’s Love.

Our Maker Made
Sex and Football and
Robin Williams and Gilda Radner, and
Coffee Shops and
Your Favorite Indie Rocker,
“Shut Up and Dance.”

If You Have To Worship Something,
Get Your Ass Off the Couch and
Take a Walk In the Woods,
Skip Some Stones Across
The Crystalline Surface of
Lord’s Lake.

Do You Think The Maker
Surveys the Beauty of
All That Is
With One Eye Filled With
Judgment?

Separating
The Sheep from The Goats and
Marching the Goats Into
the Fires of
An Eternal Hell?

I Don’t.

I’ve Had a Little Taste of
How Much I’m Loved.
