Prodigal Therapy<\/strong><\/p>\n

This didn\u2019t make it
\ninto the Bible, but
\nthe Prodigal Son
\nbecame a Family
\nTherapist.<\/p>\n

Remember him?
\nThe delinquent
\nwho demanded his
\ninheritance and
\nused it
\nto finance the
\ncareers of a
\nmotley crew of
\nhookers and drug dealers?<\/p>\n

Then he crawled home
\nand begged Daddy
\nto let him sleep
\nin a corner of
\nthe servants\u2019 quarters,
\nprobably on a pile
\nof his filthy work clothes,
\nfrom his last job
\nshoveling pig shit.<\/p>\n

But Daddy said
\nNO!<\/p>\n

And made him
\ntake a bath
\nso he could wear
\na brand new
\nparty robe,
\nthen put a ring
\non his finger
\nand wrote him
\na big check,
\nrestoring his
\nsquandered inheritance.<\/p>\n

Then the kid was
\nthe Guest of Honor
\nat a party to
\nshow off his
\nnew robe and
\npractice being
\nhappy again.<\/p>\n

Okay,
\nI\u2019m not sure
\nthe boy hung out
\na shingle to practice
\nFamily Therapy,<\/p>\n

but I like to
\nimagine his
\nfirst session
\nwith a despairing
\nfather,
\nwondering what
\nconsequences
\nshould be paid
\nby his rebellious,
\nbut equally despairing
\nson.<\/p>\n
