I imagined Prayer
\nto be asking for gifts,<\/p>\n

of rescue, or
\nrelief,
\na check in the mail,
\na cure,
\nan answer to a
\nperilous puzzle,
\na locked door
\nopened by
\nMagic.<\/p>\n

But what if
\nthat hole in
\nmy bank account,
\nthat crack that
\nhitches my git-along,
\nthat coruscating
\nconundrum,
\nthat bang-proof
\niron gate,<\/p>\n

are precious paint?<\/p>\n

What if
\nI should pray for
\na dream,<\/p>\n

while I\u2019m still
\nawake,<\/p>\n

where my days
\nare a canvas,
\nmy Imagination
\na brush,<\/p>\n

and I see how
\nto spend my days
\nmaking Art
\nwith painted
\nprayers?<\/p>\n
