You may be an
\naddict.
\nI know I am.<\/p>\n

Addicted to
\nkeeping score,
\neven when
\nI don\u2019t want to.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not just
\ntalking about
\ncounting
\nchocolate chip
\ncookies.<\/p>\n

Everything.<\/p>\n

Have I been
\nsitting here
\ntoo many
\nminutes?<\/p>\n

Is an hour
\nto wait for
\nan image
\nto appear
\ntoo long?<\/p>\n

I wonder if
\na real poet
\ncould get there
\nin thirty-seven
\nminutes,<\/p>\n

so as not to
\nsteal minutes
\na productive
\nperson
\ncould count on
\nfor vacuuming.<\/p>\n

Could I up
\nthe output to
\nthree poems
\na week?<\/p>\n

You may have been
\nsentenced to
\nlife imprisonment
\nfor your addiction,
\nby the scorekeeping
\njudges.<\/p>\n

But what if
\nI told you
\nI believe
\nI found
\na doorway to
\nfreedom?<\/p>\n

It opens
\nfor you
\nright there
\nwhere you sit
\non the couch.<\/p>\n

Follow the sound
\nof souls laughing<\/p>\n

when they
\nfollow the Light
\nat the end of
\na dark tunnel,<\/p>\n

to a place
\nwhere
\nAwareness
\nstretches forever,
\nin all directions –
\nyou can\u2019t
\ncount it –<\/p>\n

and is handing out
\nlove potions,
\ncustom made
\nto suit what
\nyou fancy,<\/p>\n

and no one
\nis keeping score.<\/p>\n
