In my Dictionary
\nof the Divine,
\nwhich I was given
\nat birth,<\/p>\n

I recently discovered
\nthat the definition
\nof \u201cObedience\u201d
\nhas been reduced to
\na single
\ninstruction:<\/p>\n

(I must assume
\nthis is an act
\nof miraculous
\nintervention,
\nsince the space
\noriginally given to
\nObedience,
\nlast time I looked,
\nwent on for pages.)<\/p>\n

Now there
\nis simply a
\nparenthetical note
\nto refer, instead, to
\n\u201cCreativity.\u201d<\/p>\n

I thumb my way back
\nand here\u2019s what
\nI find:<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you feel
\ncompelled to
\nknow your Maker
\nby Obedience,
\nobey this:<\/p>\n

\u201cGo forth and
\ncreate new ways to
\nLove:<\/p>\n

\u201cIngenious,
\ngorgeous,
\nbrush strokes in
\ncolors that shock
\nthe palette,
\ndance moves that
\nlaugh at the
\nimagination,
\nmusic marinated in
\nThe Mystery,
\nwords that break the
\nsound barrier.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are commanded
\nto expand
\nthe definition of
\n\u2018Love\u2019
\nuntil it requires
\nits own
\ndictionary.\u201d<\/p>\n
