I\u2019m thinking of
\nthrowing myself
\na party.<\/p>\n

I\u2019d make it
\na surprise party
\nif I could
\nfigure out how
\nto do that.<\/p>\n

A gift or two,
\nsomething
\nthat shows
\nI put some
\nthought
\ninto it,
\nsomething
\nthat will
\nmake me
\nexclaim,
\n\u201cOh, you
\nshouldn\u2019t have.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of course
\nthere would be
\na card,
\nwith watercolor
\nhearts
\nand a clever,
\nmaybe bittersweet
\nway to say,
\n\u201cI love you
\njust the way
\nyou are,\u201d
\neven though
\nthat\u2019s as corny
\nas can be.<\/p>\n

Maybe all of
\nthat is
\nnothing
\nbut narcissistic
\nmirror worship.<\/p>\n

Which
\nleaves me
\nto wonder:<\/p>\n

Whatever did
\nJesus mean
\nwhen he said,<\/p>\n

\u201cYou should love
\nthe other Ones
\njust like
\nyou love
\nyour Self?\u201d<\/p>\n
